We're officially half-way through The Align Method. I hope you're feeling so proud of yourself for making it this far. By now can you start to see and feel the difference Pilates makes to your body, mind and energy?
Today is all about deep core activation and Pilates breath work. We’re learning to sculpt from the inside out — drawing the lower abs in, sculpting the waist, and strengthening your pelvic floor and deep core... with some energising arm work mixed in as a little bonus.
Pilates breath work is the foundation of Pilates and what sets it apart from other forms of movement. Something you'll hear me say all the time is that breathing is the best ab exercises and it's true!
Our Pilates breath helps to energise our body through each movement, as well as connect to our deep core with pulls our abs in like a corset creating a flatter stomach and abdominal wall.
Align ab workouts are different from traditional ab workouts because we focus on working with a neutral spine to activate our deep core, focusing on core engagement and on connecting to our breath with each movement.
We really want to slow down our ab work and feel it in our bodies. You'll never see moves like fast-paced ab bikes that just create a lactic acid build up instead of strength. Here, we slow down, focus, and move with intention. Just deep core work that actually sculpts.
